Walking sandwich boards

South African ad sales company Media Hype has launched a new product called Adscreens, a slightly different take on the idea of using digital signage in guerilla, mobile marketing.

media hype screensThis company, and Traversio (an “event technology solutions provider” — there’s a mouthful) load up undoubtedly young and healthy workers with a 17-inch LCD screen, a media player, speakers and probably a pretty hefty battery. The street marketers saddle up and head into clubs and events.

The screen is set up like a backpack and plays out ads, which can be updated using GPRS. 

There’s a real novelty factor to this sort of thing, so it will be interesting to see whether it’s a sustainable business model.
