CDSA issues go-forward proposal

The Canadian Digital Signage Association has formalized its proposal for membership, to be discussed when the group has its next meeting on Oct. 12.

The proposal outlines the benefits of gold and bronze (but no silver, must be an allergy thing) levels of membership, with bronze letting you in the group and gold getting you rights to run for board and committee positions, access to all kinds of materials and some slightly off-the-wall spinoff benefits like 2.2 cents off a litre of Esso gas.

Gold costs $2,000, and while this is lunch money for some of the big boys in the media industry, it might be more than the budget allows for a lot of the entrepreneurial guys who are trying to drive this business forward.

There’s some risk, I suppose, that the association board and committees end up getting populated by people with deeper pockets and conventional thoughts, but only time will tell.

The CDSA is proposing a bunch of deliverables in the next 15 months, including:

  • a management team
  • funded research on the unique selling props of digital signage
  • seminars and conferences

The meeting is October 12, 2006 – 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at the Pantages Suites on 200 Victoria Street in, where else, downtown Toronto.
