Alchemy’s networking event roundup

For those not on the mailing list, here are the key points in a summary Alchemy’s Lyle Bunn has sent out regarding last week’s industry networking event in Toronto …

Erin Jandciu (VP Media and Public Relations, One Stop Media) provided a briefing on the direction of the CDSA, a nonprofit trade association representing membership across Canada. Its mission is to provide the Digital Signage Industry with leadership in research and education, and to create a forum to establish best practices in this emerging industry.

While the association structure continues to be defined, liaisons with the Canadian Media Directors Council (CMDC) and the Retail Council of Canada (RCC) have been forged and several committees have formed including:

  • Measurement Committee: to further develop action items with Canadian Outdoor Measurement Bureau (COMB) in an effort to develop base-line measurement.
  • Marketing Committee: to define website revisions and develop a public relations plan.
  • Creative Committee: to further develop action items for content standards and guidelines.

Paul Jankauskas (Senior VP of Sales, Captivate Network) previewed the Out-of-Home Video Advertising Bureau (OVAB) on behalf of Captivate CEO, Mike Difranza, who was named Chair of this group of currently 10 of the largest North American network operators, who are collaborating to accelerate the use of networked digital displays as an advertising medium.

OVAB is currently seeking to identify an Executive Director, and has enjoyed recent press in MediaPost and Ad  Age.
