Toronto LED board company gets national footprint

A couple of my old colleagues at the late great Elevator News Network went from that gig to starting an outdoor, LED video board play called the Outdoor Broadcast Network.

Five years later they have boards sprinkled around Toronto and southern Ontario, and now have a footprint in Vancouver that should help Peter Irwin and Brian Boyce get more attention from national ad buyers.

Marketing magazine is reporting that OBN has acquired the Lightvision Media Network, which has actually been around even longer than OBN and has 12 screens in BC, Alberta, Manitoba and Ontario..

The deal, OBN claims, gives it a 70% share of Canada’s video board inventory.

I know these guys were talking, when they started, about rolling up other networks in an attempt to get some real media placement weight and attract real money, as in national ad budgets. They’ve got there, it seems, and it should be instructive to aspiring digital signage moguls that this stuff takes time.
